From central Lake District, Keswick and Ambleside

Follow the A591 south towards Kendal. Once you have passed Windermere village continue on the A591. After half a mile you will go down and then back up a hill called Bannerigg. Shortly after there is a large signpost for ‘Black Moss’. Go into the central filter lane to turn right onto Blackmoss lane. Go through the gate and continue over 3 cattle grids. Bare left at the fork in the road. You have arrived at Whasdyke. 

From the North or South

Leave the M6 motorway at junction 36 and head towards the Lake District along the A590. Continue on the dual carriage way for around 8 miles until you come to a large roundabout.

(At Plumgarth’s roundabout - DO NOT follow sat nav directions that direct you to turn left to Crook - this will involve opening at least 5 gates. Please ignore!) 

Continue straight ahead towards Windermere along the A591 for 4 miles. (Beware of the 40mph speed camera at Ings village). Approximatey 1 mile after the speed camera, there is a a large sign for ‘Black Moss’. Turn left here onto Blackmoss lane. Continue through the gate and over 3 cattle grids. Bare left at the fork in the road. You have arrived at Whasdyke.
